Microbiological Contamination

Hardness
- Scale deposits in pipes, and water heaters
- Excessive energy use
- Premature failure of appliances and water heaters

Iron
- Reddish, brown stains on fixtures, porcelain, cooking utensils, appliances and laundry
- Disagreeable metallic taste

Manganese
- Dark brown to black stains on fixtures

Hydrogen Sulfide H2S
- Rotten egg odor and obnoxious taste
- Very corrosive in both water and air
Chlorides
- Bad salty taste
- Very corrosive, leaves deposits on fixtures
Turbidity
- Cloudy or hazy water with poor laundry results
- Spotting or sediment
Tannins
- Yellow to brownish color
- May interfere with the removal of iron
Nitrates
- Danger sign of harmful bacteria
- Can cause serious illness (“Blue Baby Syndrome”) in infants
Acidity and Low Ph
- Corrosive and unhealthy for plants
Alkalinity or High Ph
- Corrosive and can cause dry skin
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
- Bad taste with spotting and residue on fixtures, surfaces and dishware
- Possible of laxative effect in the water
